Frequently Asked Questions

Outlined below are several of the questions and reports that we hear from customers. If your question is not answered here, please contact us so that we can diagnose your needs and restore the comfort in your home.

To what temperature should I set my thermostat?

In summer, we recommend setting your thermostat to 78°F; in winter, 68°F will keep you warm while keeping your heating bill manageable.

Should I get a programmable thermostat?

Should I use the programmable feature on my thermostat?

Programmable thermostats ensures that a heating or air conditioning system is not running when it shouldn’t be—when you’re not home, for example. Utilizing this feature will save energy, which ultimately means that you’ll see a lower PG&E bill.

My heater or air conditioner will not turn on!

First, check your thermostat to ensure that it is set correctly. Next, check the circuit breaker to see if it has tripped; to reset a breaker, turn it to the “Off” position, then return it to “On.” If the breaker trips when the system turns on, a service call is needed to further diagnose the root of the problem.

Does my heating and cooling system really need a tune up?

Manufacturers recommend maintenance on HVAC systems twice a year—once in the spring and once in the fall. Some now even require regular maintenance to protect an HVAC unit’s warranty. Keeping current on tune-ups will ensure that you’re not wasting energy, and will help you to avoid unnecessary breakdowns, especially during peak seasons when your system works its hardest.
